I bought a 2 year old Cerveny 686 on Ebay a few months ago for $1750 including a gig bag without having seen the horn (except for a picture) or having played it. I did this against the recommendation of a friend who is a much more experienced player and better understood the possible pitfalls of doing that. But luckily it turned out ok - the horn plays relatively in tune and certainly is good enough for my use in a community band; and it looks great. A pro could probably find intonation problems, but most of them are probably with me rather than the horn. One caution if you go that route - shipping a horn can be expensive. Check that out and figure those costs in your budget.
