This is a classic BBb recording tuba that is hard to come by these days. Compare it to any similar, large bore, front action, 4 valve tubas available today and $3800 is right in the ballpark. Similar tubas available today would be the Jupiter 582, King 2341, VMI 3301, or Willson 3100. This price is right in the middle of the prices for these horns. The only factor limiting its value is the recording bell. Most people today would prefer an upright bell. That may drive the price down closer to the $3000 range, but I don't think that it should be worth any less than that.
