Gale, I think $3500 is a bit much for a used 642. I understand that you say it's in 'perfect' shape, but maybe you could get close to $3000 for it, but I'm not sure. I friend of mine just bought one (1998 model) for $2500 which has one small dent. I do think he got the 642 at a great price.
There's a seller in Manchester, England selling brand new 642's on ebay with the reserve price of $2995 (USD). I think his handle is 'instrumentsRus' or somthing similar.
Good luck with your sale though.
