I believe that you are correct about the bell and bottom bow, but at least the bow originally came from the King 2341. As I understand the genesis of the 52/56J, UMI agreed to make a professional quality CC tuba, but they would only do it if they could use a substantial number of parts that they already had. Therefore, the Conn 5XJ started using King 2341 tuba parts. That is why the bore of the 1st 4 valves is the same as the King. That's a long way to say that most of the parts of the new King are the same as the parts of the old King, and just happen to be the same as on the Conn 5XJ.
