ready for a shock? your conn probably already has monsterweights! at least the conn version of them. when I was over at richard murrow's house, we were experimenting with the prototype set of piston monsterweights I made. we tried them on his 56J, his King 2341, and even his King euphonium. but when we went to put them on his 3J, the 3J has a different thread so they would not work, but as soon as we pulled the bottom cap of the old Conn we noticed that it was heavy! I measured it with a caliper, and it's got at least a half inch of solid nickle sliver at the base of the cap. Check yours, it should have the same cap as the 3J.
