Jeff,
The white felt that Conn uses for under the valve cap should be the SP-1953 (thicker of the two). Even so, you are best off to take the horn in and have the felts fitted. I can usually come up with a better combination. I don't stock any of the red felts that fit in the top cap. I usually stamp out a more professional looking black felt for there, and install whatever felt gives the best alignment for the down stroke, under the finger button. I need to have the horn to do this. I never object to a customer asking me to make up an extra set to save them the labor expense of a next time.
We stock about 20 different size felts and the 3 major thicknesses of corks. No shop can afford to stock every cork, felt, and/or pad for every brand's piston instruments.
