Everyone has there own tastes and their own budgets - regarding the luxuries of specialized equipment.

Whenever I've used large tubas with quintets, I've struggled with intonation, as tiny intonation quirks become monumental in a 5 member ensemble. (Of course, none of us care to admit that ANY of our instruments have ANY notes that play the LEAST bit out of tune ;^) Further, with the tuba being the only instrument that offers a really OOOOOOO sound (Even the French horn has some ferocity in the core of its sound.) giant tubas seem to be isolated from the other four instruments in color...On a few quintet pieces, that is OK though. The last consideration is the virtuosity required by some quintet literature. How easy is it to "get around" with this PT-6?
