This isn't funny to me. Many companies that are really well-organized for mailorder or Internet sales are not well organized for store-front sales. When doing mailorder, you want a really good database, plus music filed by publisher. For retail store-fronts, however, you really want the music organized by instrument or ensemble to allow browsing in the actual music rather than through a database.

I found exactly this during the hours I spent combing the shelves at Southern Music in San Antonio. If you called them and asked for something specific, they could put their hands on it in seconds. But if you tried to find it yourself in the store, you might spend hours. That was fine with me, because I wanted to spend hours and see things that I wouldn't see in a database. Of course, this is why I hate depending on the Internet so much--you only find what you are looking for.
