I bought a used ACB-601 4V CC about 6 months ago, and I like the horn pretty well. The sound is huge and deep. It took me a while to learn the best way to set the tuning slides to get good intonation, but I now can play it decently in tune. A good one is a worthwhile instrument, but bad 601's are not uncommon. From what I hear, the older horns are better than the more recent ones.

By the way, Cerveny switched from the ACB notation to the CCB notation for their CC tubas several years ago, so the horn has to have a little age on it. It may have been used for a short time and put away for several years (or may have sat in a store waiting to be sold), but it shouldn't be a nearly-new instrument.

To be honest, I like my 601 pretty well, but I am looking to switch back to a Meinl-Weston model 30 CC or model 25 BBb. They just play better and are good values for the price.
