I dunno, Dale. If that WAS their meaning, I completely agree with you. They did wish Mr. Deck well, and I kinda thought they were seeing this the same way I was (if in fact the rumors were true), that they were just amazed at the run of bad fortune for pro tubists, not their good fortune. The choice of words, mentioning the potentially upcoming audition, was tasteless though. I chalk it up to them attempting to phrase things creatively, not taking glee in any possible misfortune of someone else. I hope I'm right.
My main gripe is repeating the rumor. If it's true, then it betrays what must be Mr. Deck's desire for privacy; if it is not true, it has the potential to damage Mr. Deck professionally.
