How very refreshing to see your perspective on what was, in all likelihood, a not very pleasant ending to your job. I can sympathize.
I am one who has played the Nutcracker enough (Houston Ballet Orchestra for 18 years) to not like very much other things the composer wrote (I couldn't spell his name!). Needless to say, he wrote some GREAT music.
It is gratifying to find that others have also found a real love of music after a not so great experience. Playing becomes really fun when it is done for "self" rather than for a pay check.
I have a new found respect for those of you who have played your instrument for the fun of it for many years. My hat's off to you.
