Just thought I'd mention a few things. 1)Making that beast play in tune might be easier with a different sort of mouthpiece. 2)Have you had the instrument checked for leaks, I mean, very thoroughly? I repaired a Marzan about 4 years ago that had response and intonation problems. After investigation, it turns out that the seam on the bell side of the leadpipe(well-hidden)was never brazed together. After brazing and finishing, man, did that horn crank! There are many places where a tuba could leak. 3)There is a reason why they located the main tuning slide on that horn so that you could continually manipulate it. A pro trumpet player friend of mine tells me that C trumpets are generally harder to play in tune than Bb, also. Nature of the beast.
