Well, I'm not sure that I'm ready to play trombuba, or whatever you want to call continual slide-slinging. I'll have to sleep on it.

The odd thing is that today I had a chance to play an old 3-valve Besson compensating CC. The green LED on the tuner never went off; playing in tune was effortless (well, okay, I had to lip down the low F#). Too bad that it's a top-action instrument (I've got a weak left eye) or I would've offered the Marzan in trade in a second. IMOHO, Boosey is overlooking a great product by marketing a non-comp CC.

The Besson shows me that it's possible to build a really nice solid-sounding horn that plays in tune (and it's not stuffy in the least). So why isn't it done more?
