Doug, the post-war York instruments were made by Boehm and Meinl. The York Band Instrument Company had been sold to Carl Fisher, who made only student instruments in the Grand Rapids factory. The pro-grade horns were imported from Germany. This stopped in 1971 (or earlier) when Carl Fisher sold the york name to Boosey and Hawkes, who has apparently done nothing with it (even though they are not producing a non-compensating Nirschl-designed C tuba).

The tuba that I had when I visited you was a Boehm and Meinl-made York Master. It was the one with the receiver taper that wasn't tapered when I brought it there.
