Rob P-M and I in a recent thread touched the topic of odd bore measurements occuring on some auction site presentations.

Even if I am pretty well schooled in taking measurements of physical phenomenons, I entered a stage of doubting myself, when I read my caliper as giving the bore throught-the-valves of my Conn 26K as .695". Hence the (sic!) (dis-)claimer.

Initiated by the present top-of-the-board Conn 4J thread I discovered, that Conn actually has made at least one more model with a .695" bore.

My 26K is worn by years of US highschool (ab-)use. Much more than its slightly older 40K sibling, which has a history of professional non-marching ownerships.

Yet the .695" bore is so close to the much more standard bore of .689", that I have been doubting my calipering skills. Happily without any reason.

Your de-sic(k)ened Klaus
