I missed your post the other day. I was dissapointed at the general trend of the discussion away from banda music, but I guess that's what to expect after putting that photo up.
Anyway, my opinion on the best banda recordings would be recent ones by Banda El Recodo or Banda El Limon. A couple of good Banda El Recodo CD's are

Thalia's CD is great, but is not really banda.
