My private lessons teacher last year taught me to do slurs correctly you need to use a lot of air and a lot of jaw movement. You need to know in your head where the next slurred note will be then you have to immediately snap your jaw up to that postion. If your not quick enough with the jaw or don't have enough air the second note will have a delayed attack and won't respond as quickly. It's harder the lower you are because there is a larger distance for your jaw to travel, not to mention the more air required to play down there. Hope this helps.
