I like mine just fine for those times when it is easier to 'wear' the horn and there isn't enough headroom for a sousa. My helicon handles the same as any other tuba. Wearing a helicon is far less strenuous that mandhandling a tuba. As far as the sound quality goes, that depends on both your chops and the horn.
