Just from stepping into the grocery store occasionally, I know that there are vast seas of folks who could not properly expose their children to language arts, sciences, and math in effective ways.

That being said, I do believe that teaching skills are highly overrated. One-on-one teaching by a thoughtful person who communicates well and know the subject matter is all that is required, rather than the goobledegook espoused in university education departments. Classroom teaching could be done by the same type of person, provided they understood the basic skills of speech pacing and crowd control.

I have a ( summa cum laude, if you will ) degree and certification in secondary education, but think very little of the degree and even less of the certificate.
