"Reasonable Judgement"...

Mouthpiece Puller
Valve Oil
Slide Grease
Rawhide Mallet for stuck valve caps and slides in an emergency
Extra water key corks, self-adhesive style
Extra mouthpiece, goose neck and tuning bits / extra sousaphone if available

All other maintenance should be taken care before a band trip/football game by a qualified repair technician.

One last thing...

Duct Tape for sousaphones (mind you, my shop would charge extra $$$ to get that crap off, but it would get through a performance when the sousaphone is falling apart at the seems).

One thing that I remember from my days as a band director is that field repairs are usually stop-gap measures and most of the problems -other than the mellophone player tripping on the sousaphone case and smashing her horn and her face into the pavement-can be prevented with proper maintenance, high quality cases and careful handling of the instruments.
