The old way was to have the first two with the air and then the last two against the air. I never understood why.
The new ones are all with the air and you will see the difference is that there is no interruption or what I call like a little bubble in the air. You can really tell when slurring long slow notes. You get like a phuaw sound with them against and you don't with the valves turning with the air.
