I have seen pictures performed many times, by many of the "top" us orchestras. I've only seen it done on tuba twice. Most of the time, the second trombone player is the valve doubler, and plays the solo. Really, I'm not sure why people freak out about playing bydlo. There are higher, more challenging parts in the solo repertoire, and this part really requires little effort to be accomplished on a bass tuba.
