Hi 1st question i would like to ask is ?? are you taking about Acores ?? or mainland Portugal ?? Most of the bands i see when im in the Acores now use Amati tubas or some older model 186 Miraphones ?? most are nickelsilver too . im some of the band rooms i have visited i have seen alot of older Selmer euphoniums & tubas , the old timers there love them too, big time !! could they be what your grandad be speaking about , the Selmers ive seen are real heavy and well built horns . thats my 2cents for now !
