I have played 2155's that play like 2000's. Yes, they did have some custom shop "tweaking" (changed leadpipe, etc.). The 2155 is heavier due to a more uniform thickness of the brass. A lot of the difference between the two horns is more at the mouthpiece than out in the hall. Both sound very similar out front in fact a good 2155 and 2000 sound almost identical. The intonation problems that exist on the 2155 exist on the 2000. Only the large bows and bell are handmade, the valve cluster is the exact same between the two. The fifth rotor is rotated about the axis of the main tube 90 degrees because, from what I hear, Warren Deck liked the placement that way a little better. To some the cost difference is worth it. Some will by the 2155 and get it to work they way they want it to. Both are good horns. Both are worth the money to the right person.
