I've never met the 6/4 tuba that doesn't have intonation issues for at least some players, or that is uniform across many examples. So, if neither Yamaha nor Holton are consistent or perfectly in tune (whatever that is), then they are in good company.

My experience with Yamaha has been that they are generally consistent, but not necessarily consistently good. Like Miraphone, folks either like them or they don't. Their variability seems to be across model boundaries rather than within them. But Yamahas tend to be pretty good at copying whatever they were copying, and I'd bet that the Yamayork would be competitive with other tubas of similar size.
