Really, I love the idea of using my 20J for that sort of music. It plays softly just fine, with a deep woofy sound that matches a string bass. And it has a warm sound and bends easily--good for that sort of music. Plus, it has a look that seems right. A sousaphone or a helicon is certainly more portable, but the 20J "lap sousaphone" has more focus in the sound and is easier on the shoulder.

Not that I get to play this sort of music much, heh, heh.
