I find that a good compromise between B.E.R.P. and open buzzing is the addition of a 6-inch long piece of clear tubing (.50 inch diameter, i believe) This give a bit of resistance, but is still mostly open. It also allows for the MUSICAL use of the mouthpiece, in that you can play longer phrases. "Buzzing" in its own right is not a musical experience. Think of it as "playing" the mouthpiece, not just buzzing. Make EVERYTHING you do musical!!
