I belive that Doug Elliot can get you a custom shank for the Alex. In the meantime, try using a short length of heat-shrink tubing (available at auto parts stores and probably your local Radio Shack) over the shank of your current mouthpiece. It'll stay in place and seal much better than duct tape.

Ferree's will sell you new rotary springs.
