Top-sprung trumpet-style pistons have to be longer on top. If you put them onto a front-action tuba like a King they would stick way out in front, begging to be damaged. On a top-action tuba like an old-style Besson they could work, but are probably not worth the extra expense. On trumets they are necessary because you need the extra length on top and you don't want it on the bottom. Tuba-style valves on a trumpet would stick way out at the bottom end.
