Sorry I have been seeming to be the Devil's Advocate in any respect. I must admit that mouthpiece selection had slipped my mind completely. I use a PT-88 Heavywall so low notes just pop right out on those, buzzing or playing.
I also agree that one should always think of his or her sound as a singing voice or another instrument altogether. I somehow remember someone referring to Patrick Sheridan as a man on a big instrument when he would buzz his mouthpiece.
