If I had to play this piece, I'd be playing the not-so-difficult-but-absolutely-essential-that-they-be-executed-in-exact-time excerpts from this piece daily.

I'd also buy a recording of the piece (c.d.) and, just for good measure, if you have a friend with one of those cool programs that can re-record a c.d. at a slightly faster tempo without changing the pitch, I'd have a "faster" c.d. made of the recording and practice with that one, too...Who knows how fast the guest conductor will decide to go?...This would give you some personal flexibility. Remember, the first big thing is a solo.
