If you haven't already tried one, play the new version of the King 2341. What a great horn! The quality control at UMI seems a little suspect, and each tuba plays a little different, but if you try a few you'll find one you'll love. Last time I was at Baltimore Brass there were about ten of them. Dillons usually has a good supply as well. I recommend the newest version with the detatchable leadpipe, they tend to play better (for me). Call one of those stores for an exact quote, but I think a new one would run a little under $4,000 laquered, or a little over 4K in silver.
