Rex Martin makes frequent use of what appears to be a 3+1 Besson Eb of some kind. He sounds good on it, and it has a completely different sound (as expected, I guess) than his Rudy F. He uses it for solo works that are a bit more range-intensive down low but that benefit from the slightly smaller and lighter sound of an Eb (for example, the Hindemith Sonata).

Just what I've gleaned from hearing his past few recitals at Northwestern...
