I have an Amati/Cerveny EEb, and I have to say that I believe part of its unique sound is due, inpart, to its size. Too many of the F and EEb tubas out there are so big, that look, feel, and sound like CC tubas. Now, I can't justify having a small horn that sounds like my large one, it makes no sence. I hate to say it, but Trumpet players don't find D trumpets that sound just like there C. They look for the contrast, and use it. My smaller EEb makes a great contrast to my Large CC, and is a wounderful bidge instrument in a tuba quartet, sence it has a sound with more weight than a euph, and much lighter than a contrabass.
Sorry, I know that was kinda off topic, just something that bugs me in the tuba world.
