I hear this argument about the 3+1 set up pretty regularly but still do not buy into it. I made the same argument for years before becomming the owner of 3 such horns (okay, one's a euph). For me to say it didn't take some getting used to would be a weak argument, but it's no bigger deal than getting used to a 5th valve, and less so than getting used to a whole step 5th when being used to a 2 step. Some things work easier while a few (very few so far) seem a bit more difficult. The bottom line, for me anyway, is the sound. Since my horns do what I want them to do better than any other's I have tried the particular valve set-up is secondary. I am not attempting to sell anyone on anything, but to dismiss a horn simply because of something you are not used to puts limits where they need not be.
