Our high school organizes an annual Veterans Day program in conjunction with the community. The band performs the Star Spangled Banner, taps (two trumpets), and a featured selection (this year, Carmen Dragon's America the Beautiful). Our library has over 60 patriotic pieces. We are a rural midwestern town with strong veteran support and this tradition was here long before I was and will be here (hopefully) long after I am gone.
