The Shepherd School of Music (Rice University, Houston) announces a vacancy in the tuba studio for Fall 2003. Auditions for admission will be heard through mid-March 2003, scheduled at mutual convenience. A completed application needs to be filed before auditions may be scheduled.

Live auditions are a prerequisite for admission. Recordings may be sent to determine if the expense of playing a live audition is warranted. Candidates should have competitive academic qualifications.

While both undergraduate and graduate auditions will be heard, offers of admission will not necessarily be made to those who play the best auditions. Potential, innate musicality, and resourcefulness are qualities considered alongside the player’s level of achievement.

This is an opportunity to study at one of the nation’s finest conservatories, located within a premier private university. Houston is a dynamic city possessing a vibrant arts community.

In order to maximize playing and performance opportunities, the tuba studio is traditionally held to two students. Use the link below to obtain more information about Rice and the Shepherd School.
