I've got a Willson Eb with the high leadpipe and take a slightly different approach. I use a portable keyboard bench and sit athwart it and place the tuba on the seat in front of me. Lets me sit upright (the height of the seat is adjustable) and works great and saves me from having to deal with strange chairs. I can see where this might not be the best thing where matching chairs are necessary for a certain look, but for everyday playing, it's fine.
