I found this link on the web with what appears to a comprehensive list of Puccini instrumentations in Italian:

http://www.puccini.it/scientifica/ctopere.htm

Most of the operas call for either Bass Trombone, Contrabass Trombone or Cimbasso but La Rondine and Manon Lescaut and Edgar call for Bass Tuba. Some of the entries are from revised editions but they aren't by Kalmus.

I can't find a corresponding list for Verdi. I've become a big Cimbasso fan but I still can't imagine the overtures to La Forza del Destino or Nabucco without tuba. This is probably a just a limitation of my imaginitive powers.
