I would avoid getting hung up playing 5th partial pitches (D-Eb-E) in the staff on the 4th partial (with substitue fingerings: D 1-3 / Eb 2-3 / E 1-2). Go ahead and play these (D - 1 / Eb - 2 / E - 0).

Even early '70's 186 CC's aren't that flat on those 5th partial pitches, and playing them on the 4th partial (with the extra valves) often results in those pitches being just as sharp as the "normal" fingerings are flat - not to mention having to mess around with a fistful of valves on quick passages.

As to the lower D 1-3 and low G 1-3...' at your discretion, though you may end up playing some 2-3 pitches flat.

When I had a 4V 186 CC, I just "split the difference" on the 4th slide length between the pitches played with 4 and those played with 2-4.
