I wanted to clearify about the Army Bands. They and every other band programs in all the branches can be highly rewarding careers for decades. My point about the 4-year stint was that for people who are buried in student loans, under the age of 35, but are not too keen on a military career, the US Army can be a great way to wipe out $65,000 in student loans in only 4 years instead of attempting to pay them off until you are in your mid 40's.

With just 2 years of college, I believe it is, you qualify to start out as an E-4 and usually make E-5 very very quickly as a musician. An E-5 makes a heck of a lot more than a struggling musician fresh out of college paying $400-500/month in student loan payments. 4 years and BOOM debt free.
