There is some good advise concerning the physical problems n relationship to the hand itself. There might be another problem however, but if you see one of the specialist, they can check it as well.
I suffer from pain in my left hand when I have prolonged playing sessions on upright bass. My problems stem from bone spurs impacting the nerve bundles in the front of my neck going to the left arm and hand. I am on physical therapy at the moment, and have been on it for the past 3 or 4 years. The spurs are in an area where I do not wish to have surgery, and the medicine end of the treatments are a cortozone shot.
Again, the specialist can narrow the problem down, but don't be quick to think that it is only the hand.
