I performed Romeo and Juliet last spring. It's a good piece and the tuba is fairly active at times; however, there aren't any imposing challenges in the part.

As Chuck mentioned, there is a B which is sustained for about 10-12 bars (I don't really remember) near the end of the piece. When this note begins, the tubist is quite literally the only person playing, but about five or six bars into the note, the motif in the string section becomese sufficiently prominant for a breath to be taken undetected. Some players might be able to play the note in a single breath.

I know nothing of the tuba part in the piano concerto. In fact, I didn't even think it had a part.
