Tried a Jupiter 25 MP on a sousa recently, in an effort to play C below the staff with a "little more punch." My lips have never hurt more after playing than this. I also tried practicing the night before solo/ensemble with a towel stuffed in the bell, hoping it would mute the sound. It did, but made the horn so stuffy as to be unplayable.
