You may also want to verify that the 2nd valve tubing and/or linkage hasn't been bent. My son got into the habit of putting his hard-back music folder in the gig bag pouch of his Amati. The book put just enough stress on the valve body to knock the 3rd valve linkage out of alignment. A little tweaking got things working again. I've also seen problems with piston valve models where a slight misalignment of the tubing near the valve caused the valve to stick. The symptoms would be just what you describe. When the horn was cold, the valve would work. When it warmed up (thanks to the marvels of metal expansion) the valve would start to bind. HTH!
