In the early 1970s, Dan Perantoni gave a recital at the University of Illinois where I was a non-music undergrad with grade school and high school band tuba experience. I think it was a master's recital, but I could be wrong.
The pickup tuba quartet's rollicking first movement of Beethoven's Fifth is unforgettable.
