Thanks to all those who have responded.
I was mainly curious as to the playing effects of this conversion. However, people has spoken up and said it is very playable. Ingenuity does work! As long as the instrument plays, that is all that matters.
I can see a certain brass pot manufacturer getting a lot of orders from repair shops to convert all of those old conn recording bells...
