Yes--big time! He was a great player,you can hear him play sousaphone on some of the old Jack Hylton recordings.For our American cousins --Hylton's band was a pre -war British dance band with some really great instrumentalists.
I have an old collection of "Sounding Brass" magazines from the '70's-80's in which Fletcher writes some of the more thoughtful articles you can read about tuba playing ,one of which talks about Barlow tubas.It has a photograph of Clem Lawton with his Barlow.The photograph looks as if it was taken about the 30's but I am not at all sure.I wonder if you have any more information on your grandfather or any more photographs?
Where's his Barlow?
