Sean,

There are a million different ways to practice the tongue placement for the technique of double tonguing, and if you asked fifty different tuba/euph players, you'd probably get 49 different responses. The most important thing to remember is that whatever technique you use WILL NOT work properly without a very even airflow. The less air you put behind your tongue, the more work your tongue has to do to produce the same technique, and the result is a 'spitting' sound in your double tongue. The more air you put behind the tongue, the less movement is required to produce the same effect, but the sound is great, and it gives you the ability to phrase properly even in super-fast technical passages!!! Best of luck, and keep practicing!!!!!
