The Cervany 601-5MR is unlike either of the other 2 horns. It is large in the extreme (.835 bore and 19.69" bell). I own a CC version of this tuba and it is a real honker! If you're looking for an all around tuba, the 601 may be way too big. I've played on a couple of Mirafone 188's and they didn't do much for me. It is also a bigger tuba but nothing nearly as large as the 601. If you like the Mirafone sound, the 188 is on the large side of that type of sound and I think it might be able to handle ensemble playing better than some of the smaller Mirafones. The real question is how do you like these tubas? Play them and see what works best for you...
